Great to meet you!
In 2017 I was diagnosed with the BRCA2 gene mutation and then a few short weeks later was given the news that I had breast cancer.
All 3 of my kids were in grade school at the time, my youngest was just in kindergarten. I had left a job of nearly 7 years to work a remote position from home to be with my kids as much as possible. This however meant that I was a bit cut off socially. I didn’t really know how to tell people about my diagnosis, but I had always processed things through writing and journaling, so I decided that a blog was the best way to get the news out there to anyone that was connected to my circle.
I have always had a calling deep inside of me that needed to connect and understand those around me.
I have always had this idea that life is about more than trudging along from day to day, there should be more pure moments of joy, bliss and beauty, like a delightful brunch on a 72 degree morning with great conversation and laughter or sitting around a fire pit with your people listening to great music and make s’mores or the whimsy of twirling around the grass barefoot blowing bubbles with your kids. Breast cancer and BRCA2 amplified this calling that I had deep down, it gave clarity to what I was seeking and direction to pursue knowing myself and my natural talents and gifting better and wanting to share them with those around me. It sent me on a pursuit of how to I share what I’m learning, how I’m growing and becoming the better version of me and how I’m finding and creating beauty in my life in the midst of the day to day.
Life is busy, we are pulled in a hundred different directions everyday; family, work, kids, spouse, friends, meetings, making meals, chores, appointments. We are often running from the time our feet hit the ground in the morning, are you fitting yourself in during the day or do you lay down at night wondering when there’s going to be time for you?
It may sound trite, but we all know you can’t pour from an empty cup, and yet that is what most of us are trying to do everyday. Finding Beauty with Genevieve is the source you are looking for to fill you up or guide you to the fill us you need. To give you encouragement, inspiration, meet you where you are and shine the spot light on what’s next.
We live in a technological world, everything is automated and many of us work from home. We are so connected through our devices and social media that we have become disconnected. It’s hard enough for many of us to maintain friendships and social lives with how busy we are, forget making new friends or finding your circle if you don’t have one, it’s like climbing Kilimanjaro, not impossible but certainly not easy. I know, I am in the same boat as you.
I want to feel connected, I want to be seen and known, just like you do.
I wanted to create a beautiful space for connection, where we can share the things we’re learning, how we’re creating balance in our lives and how we are becoming who we are created and called to be.
Though we travel the world over to find the Beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not
